Minster marks 15-year partnership with BITO

Minster are proud to announce that we have renewed our long-term contract with a global storage equipment firm.

We are now into our 15th year supporting Warwickshire-based BITO, a specialist supplier of storage, racking and material handling systems.

Providing software and IT infrastructure, last year Minster played a key role in BITO’s move to its new purpose-built offices and warehouse in Nuneaton – implementing the SAP Business One system which has improved BITO’s management of its stock control network.

Nick Marlow, managing director of Minster Micro said: “We are extremely proud to have played a key role in the growth of BITO, one of the most respected market leaders in their sector.

“Since we helped BITO move to a new building and implemented a new, efficient system, they have gone on to record sales of £16 million.

“It is 15 years since we started working together, and to renew what has been a first-class partnership is a big milestone for us.”

As part of the contract renewal, Minster will continue to provide BITO’s full IT infrastructure – including cyber security, telephone and communications networks, hardware and continue to support BITO with their SAP Business One ERP system.

“Thanks to Minster a major change in the life of our business and the move to new premises went smoothly, while the capability of our IT systems are now second to none.

Founded in Germany in 1845, BITO now has more than 70,000 customers, providing storage solutions for the likes of Amazon, M&S, Asda, Lidl, BMW and Jaguar Land Rover.

Made In The Midlands 2017 Exhibition – Will we see you there?

Undergraduate Ryan

Student Secures Work Placement With Minster

A local University student studying Business Information Technology has successfully secured a 12-month placement with Kidderminster-based Minster Micro Computers Ltd. as part of his university degree course.

Joining one of the longest established and well-known IT firms in Worcestershire, 20-year old Ryan will work with and train alongside Minster’s SAP product development and support team over the next year.

Minster Micro Director, Susan Marlow, commented: “It has become more and more apparent that the next generation are being taught how to code and develop, which is fantastic, but they’re not being taught about how to service and support business products that are already on the market.”

“We approached a local University to voice our concerns and to see if they could help. After being impressed with both the undergraduates and the programme we decided to sign up. Our aim now for Ryan is that he gains both commercial knowledge and experience that will complement and add to his existing skill set, and at the same time we gain a fresh, enthusiastic individual who brings to the table fresh ideas and lots of enthusiasm.”

Having completed two years of his degree, Ryan is currently working alongside Minster’s software team having passed his pre-sales product training and examinations with an impressive pass mark; his primary focus now is support.

Software Team Leader Neil Hodgetts added: “This is an exciting time for Minster as we continue to explore new opportunities and build our engineering teams. Over the next 12-months Ryan will work with our engineers whilst earning a salary and extending his knowledgebase, with the guarantee of a full time job working with us at Minster once he graduates.”

Minster Micro Computers Welcomes Apprentices

Kidderminster-based Minster Micro Computers Ltd, one of the longest established and well-known IT firms in Worcestershire, having signed up to Worcestershire County Council’s apprenticeship scheme has welcomed three new apprentices in a unified approach to Minster’s business growth needs.

Minster Director, Mrs Susan Marlow, stated: “Recruitment of young people continues to be a challenge, and like many businesses looking to recruit young and talented employees there’s no shortage of applicants, just a shortage of applicants with the relevant skills.  After attending Worcestershire County Council’s apprenticeship scheme event, we signed up and very quickly agreed to take on three apprentices all studying the same IT apprenticeship course.”

19-year old Rheece started building his own PCs when he was still at school, excited by IT as it never stagnates. 18-year old Alex wanted to follow a career in IT after taking part in GCSE work experience. The youngest of the group Esmée’s interest lies in software and grew from her studies in IT at GCSE level. All apprentices are studying IT at level 3.

Business Expo Visitors Win Minster Micro Halloween Treats

It was all things Halloween as delighted ladies from the MFG solicitors’ team drew three of the many winning tickets in Minster Micro’s Halloween competition at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce business expo at Malvern’s Three Counties Showground on Thursday 8th October.

Exhibiting with a host of other local businesses from across the two-counties, visitors to Minster Micro’s stand lined up to take turns and see if they had won a sour-tricky treat or a winning ticket for a bewitching Halloween beer, and get their hands on one of their distinctive, orange must-have Minster bags.

Minster’s Head of Marketing, Maria Burdett said: “We decided to run a competition and launch our new eco-friendly cotton bags at the show. Our bright orange bags went down a storm, especially with the recent carrier bag charges brought in this month. We spoke with lots of different businesses across many sectors and industries, so it really helped to break the ice by running our fun Halloween competition giveaway.”

“Well done and congratulations to all our Halloween-treat winners and thank you to every new Minster bag owner who took the time to visit us on our stand.”

Minster @ Made In The Midlands Expo!

With over 1,200 tickets sold and over 125 exhibitors, it’s safe to say that this years’ Made in the Midlands exhibition was one of the most successful for everyone involved.

Minster had a really great day exhibiting as a Gold member for MIM’s 2015 expo and met some fantastic, local and like-minded companies to discuss business with. We found it an excellent opportunity to network with many different businesses and also catch up on the latest trends and news within the manufacturing industry.

As around 60% of our customers are in the manufacturing sector, it was an excellent platform for us to showcase our products and discuss with other exhibitors the challenges that we have helped our clients in the same sector overcome.

At this exhibition we decided to do something a little different for our competition and decided to give-away a money tree. We felt that a money plant would be more fitting at this exhibition than any other as it’s a symbol of both growth and prosperity – something that the manufacturing industry is enjoying in this climate. The draw was made by one of the Made in the Midlands team, Sophie Whittingham.  The lucky business card that was picked out belonged to one of the lovely ladies from the Paycare stand. She was overjoyed to have won and we are confident it has gone to a really great home.

Apart from the fantastic networking opportunity and competition fun, Minster also managed to catch up with some great companies we have met at previous events as well as some of our own customers. Our director, Susan Marlow, also had chance to have a chat with local UKIP MEP James Carver .

MIM Event

Alongside all this, Minster also took the opportunity to talk with many of the local universities and training consultancies about our current recruitment drive and our concerns over the skills gap facing businesses in the Midlands.

All in all the Made in the Midlands exhibition was a fantastic event that we are proud to say we were a part of. We would like to congratulate the MIM team on their efforts in organising a fantastic day. We hope you all had a really successful exhibition as much as we did. Already looking forward to MIM Expo 2016…!

In less than a week (Thursday 14th May 2015) we will be exhibiting at the Made in the Midlands exhibition where we are a Gold Partner. Whilst you have to be a member of Made in the Midlands to exhibit, other companies can register to attend the event.

The 2015 exhibition is set to be MIMs (Made In The Midlands) biggest and best yet with a brand new location hosting over 150 of our members exhibiting and an expected 1,000 visitors.

The Made in the Midlands Exhibition is a full day event which brings together the very best of Midlands manufacturing & engineering services from across a wide variety of sectors, including Aerospace, Automotive, Rail, Marine, Medical and Oil & Gas.

MIMs annual exhibition provides the ideal platform for networking with a view to doing more business and meeting like-minded companies from across the Midlands region.

We were chosen for the cover feature due to our reputation of excellent service, quality and long-standing commitment to local businesses. We were given a series of questions to answer in order to highlight the importance of IT and how relevant it is to a companies growth.

H&W Chamber of Commerce Spring Business Exhibition

After the success from the last Chamber expo we went to, we have decided to exhibit there again at the Spring Business Exhibition.

Held at the spacious Three Counties Showground, there is an expected number of 800 visitors attending (and counting!). We feel this is a great opportunity to meet new people, introduce ourselves to local companies across the region as well as showcase our expanding portfolio of offerings, including SAP Business One, Pegasus Opera 3 and our VOIP telephony product from 3CX. Also, due to the time of the year, we are also going to be offering out advice and solutions for your payroll.
